Goal

The goal of this website is to make visible existing expertise and research infrastructures in nanoscience and technology on a European level. It shows to researchers and developers from academia and industry those facilities and expertises that are:

-either unique or renowned for its expertise
-and open to external users and collaborations.

On this webpage you can eiter search/browse for specific tools and expertise that you are interested in, or you can register to add information about your institute in the database. Please contact us with any questions or comments.

Background

This website is an initiative of NanoSciERA, an ERAnet in FP6 of national research funding agencies in Europe that work jointly on a funding scheme in the nanosciences. One of the tasks of NanoSciERA is to facilitate transnational collaborations and to share tools and expertise. One of our goals is therefore to disclose infrastructure information that is unique or renowned for its quality. So far no such information specifically directed to external researchers exists on a European level.

Within the European nanoscience community researchers use very specialised research infrastructures (RI) that often are scarce and have limited availability. A typical aspect of nanoscience research is its multidisciplinarity and its dependence on expensive equipment and machines. Until now, no user information was readily available on practical issues dealing with external access of infrastructures. Therefore, to increase awareness and visibility, we have set up a website with information on research infrastructures at nanotechnology research centres that are accessible to external users.

The objective is to provide access information for external users, on nanotechnology research equipment in the EU that is either unique or is renowned for its particular expertise.
